Byers Butterflake Bakery

Dean and Naomi Byers established Byers Butterflake Bakery in 1968 after Dean had been honorably discharged from the USMC. Dean grew up in a baking family under the direction of Wayne and Emma Byers, who operated Byers Pastries in Columbia, PA. Naomi grew up on the Diffenderfer family farm in Silver Springs, PA.

Pellman Foods

Our founders, Bill and Ruth Pellman, started the business in the Pellman family kitchen. They began by making a few cheesecakes, then a few more. Soon they were making 100 cheesecakes a week and selling them to restaurants and farmer's markets. In 2000 when Bill and Ruth retired, their sons, Mike and Scott took over the daily operations of the business.

Pennsylvania Bakery

Baking has been a very important part of the Schenk Family since the early 20th century, when John Schenk first began the trade in Germany. Eager to take advantage of the land of opportunity, John Schenk and his wife, Pauline, packed their belongings, along with the Schenk's Family recipes and immigrated to the USA in pursuit of the American dream. They later settled in Germantown, PA, where Schenk's Bakery was opened in 1938. John and Pauline had 3 children, Ken, Carl, and Erna.
