In late October we began looking for applicants to participate with two business types to operate in Atlanta, one was for a storage business, and the other was a home renovation  business. We placed a few craigslist adds and posted on Indeed looking for applicants.

The ad offered the use of property we have in Georgia, plus marketing help, to any applicant that could grasp our business model, and use it.

Note: Our business model is based on this user agreement.

We failed to find the person in Atlanta that would put our business idea into action. We thought someone could live at the Villa Rica property, and with just part time help could  manage the work in Atlanta. We would require only that they understand our web based business model, and be able to demonstrate they can use it as a business tool.

Applicants had a difficult time understanding our business model -

We believe our message was too complicated, our next go will focus on one business type, with a very clear job description.

We had a specific method for selecting applicants, that avoided the issues we had in June

No applicants were able to complete the process.

By the end of November we had about 25 applicants and plans for a trip to show the property on the 27th of November. We hoped to meet, and show the property to four or five prospects.

The only two that showed up, who were a pair that wanted to build an intentional community on the property, but they were not interested in using our web platform.

THIS IS  ABOUT THE WEB PLATFORM - NOT THE BUSINESS OR THE PROPERTY IN VILLA RICA,

This is about a new method of doing business collaboratively and online... the business and property could be any business or property - they are needed to build the web platform and define the collaborative method for doing business online.

We still have 25 applicants that appear interested. It is our hope, that since we have spent a great deal of time explaining what we are up to, that some of these applicants will participate in the future of our project.

Going forward - our focus will be as  "renovation specialists."  The Georgia property remains our investment and will remain available to those that work with us, and certainly we will find a use for the property, or sell it.

We have a good list of trades people for the work we intend to do. We could improve our marketing approach and direct our efforts more to the customer, finding jobs for our list of trades people. Later this month, we will start marketing our concept to real estate agents, property owners, and investors.

We will always continue to test and improve our business platform.

BUT,  we still don't have anyone in Atlanta to oversee what we are doing. The failure of our trip with regards to applicants makes us want to stop, and build the project in Pennsylvania, closer to home where we can have a more hands on approach.

Maybe we should not quit in Georgia quite yet, maybe we are on the verge, maybe if  we had a better introduction things might drastically change.

Instead of one boots on the ground person that lives at the house...  look for five or more collaborators for our business model... we offer the house as an investment to start a business...  those involved can sell it or use it - they can do anything that will aid  the success of the business with it.

We make clear that we are not giving away the house, and if they choose to sell it they must reimburse a fair value...  It could be that our collaborators may wish to improve the real estate,  and use it in common...   We only ask that they understand our platform and use it to run our business.

In fact this time we could tell new applicants there is a $500 donation required.

It would be important to find applicants that can take the initiative and not just one applicant to be in charge, but five in Atlanta that could work together, and make this business happen.
